Bishop, Please Understand
Bishop, We love you and pray for your team’s ministry everyday. We are also long time donors. Your most recent posting on evangelization misses the fundamental issue. You plead for the laity to evangelize by developing a personal relationship with Jesus and to learn about their faith and then bring such witness to the church youth. But the laity already have those charisms and want to bring such witness to our youth. Rather, the laity are not permitted access to such youth ministries by the bishops. The bishops keep the curriculum “dumbed down” on purpose for a thousand reasons, e.g., to avoid lawsuits and bad press, to keep certain donors on the rolls, to appease the marching orders from the heirarchy, etc. etc. The main issue is the bishops. I fear you already know that and what you must do to combat it and what it will cost you and all of us. As I said, we pray for you and our Church everyday. Your position is terrifying. Later in life, Newman conceded the Via Media. His path is all our paths to the Truth.
