The first mistake that most people make is to talk about themselves. Yes, you are qualified and have a degree. But your potential employer is trying to solve a problem. A great place to start would be how you can help them solve that problem.  Research the company that you are applying for, and list some of the ways you can help them become better in the future. Show them the potential employer how you can help them with your skills and knowledge - don’t just send scans of your qualifications.
