More Gentrifiers should listen
I grew up in Oakland CA. I wanted to live there forever but I don’t make enough money as a single mother to afford it. I moved to Atlanta and bought a home. I plan to move back in 2019 but I know it will be a struggle. I love my city and my friends. I get very upset when I hear about people that moved to a dangerous part of Oakland constantly complaining about the shooting, reckless driving, robberies, trash and so on. My comment is “move somewhere that doesn’t have all of that”. I’m from Oakland and know better than to live in some of those neighborhoods. I don’t want to see these kids die because of someone being fearful and not understanding.
