Episode 2: Social media and the Boston bombings
Listen now
Description
Boston was a powerful place to swallow the impact of the terrorist attacks on April 15, 2013. While some students were in class, the grade 9 students were at the 117th Marathon cheering on the runners for the Alzheimer's Association but out of harm's way. On April 19th, the city's residents were asked to stay indoors while the dramatic hunt for the nation's most wanted man continued. That afternoon, the grade 9 students came together to have a round table discussion on the unfolding situation, particularly as it related to social media's use and whether it helped or hindered Boston's recovery.
