Description
Gevian Dargan, former assistant-editor at Milestone Comics, joins Wes for “It’s Complicated” to discuss hot-button issues from todays culture. Today Gevian and Wes discuss the fallout of Dave Chappelle’s final Netflix special ‘The Closer’. Chappelle has been pushing the envelope in public discourse for years, starting with Chappelle Show. But it’s his commentary in 'The Closer' about the trans community that has everyone up in arms. The best comedy often has customers laughing at taboo subjects and opens society to new avenues of discourse. But in modern society it feels like discourse is off the table and comedians are becoming more politically correct. Should people support Chappelle even if they don’t agree with his opinions? Should Netflix pull the special? Are comedians allowed to be funny? Should Dave Chappelle be allowed to express opinions in 'The Closer'? It's a debate many of us never thought would be necessary.
