Early Kinsey as an interviewer was so good with Morning Brew. She was well-researched and the dialogue had a great flow, even with guests that pushed back on her questions (Kara Swisher). I listened to about 5 episodes of this podcast before reviewing and it’s not for me. Both content and style miss the mark. Transparency does not equal authenticity. Examples: -Bragging about buying a billionaire a drink at a “non-work” outing while you also don’t think that person should exist in current form. -Aspiring to be a business version of Call Her Daddy, sliding into Dave & Erika’s DMs and then virtue signaling that you couldn’t morally work for Barstool. -Having a father who was a Congressman, getting a big break with a startup (Brew) then dumping on both our (admittedly deeply flawed) political and financial systems and attributing your accomplishments to privilege. I’ll give it another try down the road if the format changes and Kinsey goes back into her deep dive interviews with interesting guests around topical issues. But this format of Kinsey at the center of every story with a quasi-advocacy take while still trying to partially “think about the other side” is not for me. I wish her the absolute best and applaud her for trying this out.
