Recorded at the Market Photo Workshop Library, the 5th episode of This Audio Is Visual features Tshepiso Mabula a photographer from Limpopo. They are based in Johannesburg, Soweto. The 45-minute-plus conversation with Mabula touches on a number of topics namely Identity, growing up in a staunch Christian household and their upcoming exhibition UKUGRUMBA, a project she developed as a Tierney Fellowship under the mentorship of Bra’ Buyaphi Mdledle. “UKUGRUMBA, which means to “dig up” in isiXhosa, is a body of work motivated by my family’s trauma as a result of activism in South Africa's struggle against apartheid, liberation and reconciliation effects within present day South Africa,“ elaborates Tshepiso.
