I’ve enjoyed everything Jody has done since 538 days, and this is no exception! The most recent episode on the 17th amendment was particularly good, and definitely starting to live up to the “esoteric” in the show title.

Nicole Hemmer’s vocal fry. I cannot believe this passes Radiotopia muster. There is a reason that the expression, “You have a face for radio”. The asset on “radio” is voice!

Unique historical conversations that draw connections with modern issues. Admittedly I'm a huge US history buff, but I think this could be fun even if you've never heard of the topics discussed. If anything, I'd suggest they find even more "esoteric" stories to tell.Read full review »

Came to this with high expectations that haven’t been met in the first few episodes. It really skims quickly over the Coles notes of historical events and quickly moves on to talk about present day implications. Please, a little more historical detail and colour!
