“Been a subscriber for several years and generally really enjoy picking up the podcast over the weekend. However, in recent months I feel the quality has gone a bit downhill with some slightly naive arguments and explanations. A few weeks ago some time was spent seemingly arguing buying is better than renting just because the mortgage payment is lower. If you feel that argument is the be all and end all, please change your financial advisor. This week, we got an explanation of a heat pump as a coil of wire that’s heated up with electricity rather than gas - that’s really not true, and I’m no expert. Air source heat pumps pull heat from the air by acting as what is effectively a reverse air conditioner and in the right conditions are immensely efficient. Ground source heat pumps can be even more efficient especially in cold climates. They are, as the podcast points out, pretty darn expensive but please do your research before dumbing down the explanation hugely. I don’t own one but I do get the general principle!”
