Description
We're putting a bow on the 2022 run of London Calling as James and Toby compare the respective sizes of their Christmas trees, the parties and dinners they’ve been to in the run-up to the holidays, and their favourite Christmas movies. In the news we cover Jeremy Clarkson’s Game of Thrones fantasy about Meghan Markle, whether climate activists believe in their own rhetoric or are just using global warming as an excuse to take away our liberty, and then we put on turbans, fire up the crystal ball and try to divine what 2023 has in store for us. In Culture Corner, the critical reception for Avatar: The Way of Water, whether James Cameron is ‘woke’ or ‘awake’, the unsatisfying last episode of Tokyo Vice, the gripping Volcano: Rescue from Whakaari (Netflix) and The English, a slightly odd series on the BBC starring Emily Blunt (available on Amazon Prime in the US) which Toby intends to persevere with between Christmas and New Year. And finally, how they both intend to spend Boxing Day (hunting for James, football for Toby). We'll see you all on January 2, 2023 and thanks for spending time with us every week. Opening sound this week is part of Cory Bernardi's introduction of James on SkyNews Australia. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
