“I absolutely love this podcast! Perfect for anyone looking for a deep dive into the Harry Potter books and lore, and J and Ben are so dedicated to all the little details! Also very fun as a companion/contrasting podcast to Potterless.
Question for you: In the episode on The Chamber of Secrets chapter, you imply that a Horcrux has to be created right after the murder is committed. Is this based on something from the books or other wizarding world material? Or do you think it’s possible that someone could create a Horcrux months or years after a particular murder? I always thought this might be possible because murder splits the soul, but presumably it just stays split inside the body for wizards who murder but don’t make Horcruxes. So maybe it’s possible to extract a piece of split soul at any time after a murder to make a Horcrux.
Also, regarding the order of events, Riddle goes to meet his Gaunt relatives in the summer of his sixteenth year, so after his fifth Hogwarts year, according to Dumbledore in A Sluggish Memory.”
