“I’ve watched Angel and Buffy religiously since I was about 7 years old, but have only really gotten to be a giant nerd about it recently through podcasts like Tiny Fences, and I gotta say, what a delight. It’s especially great that we’re getting an insight into the shows from a completely new viewer’s (Amanda’s) perspective - we get to go along with her for the ride of becoming a Buffy fan. But then we also have a Buffy fan representative (Andrea) who gets to understand everything like we do but who is somehow REALLY GOOD at not spoiling her friend in these in depth discussions.
The “5 minutes with Angel” segment is perfect because when an episode is really exciting, they’re totally down to spend more than 5 minutes on it, but most of the time, somehow 5 minutes feels like enough time. I’m not usually a proponent of switching back and forth between Buffy and Angel on your first watch - I think it’s better to watch all of Buffy and then all of Angel - but this was another fresh perspective that I got to enjoy vicariously through Amanda. And I honestly can’t wait till she gets to rewatch it, and hope that some additional content gets put out about that. Rewatching Buffy is just as much if not more fun than watching it for the first time.
Although the other idea of reviewing Dollhouse next, I AM ALL ABOUT.
Definitely an underrated podcast, especially with how far they are into the show, they should have 100x as many fans, but alas. Maybe after it’s over it’ll be discovered by a wider audience, like Firefly!”
