13-0 and it feels so good. For the first time since 2014, Florida State has claimed a conference championship, riding an elite performance from its defense to secure a 16-6 win over the Louisville Cardinals. The win came despite a gameday announcement that true freshman Brock Glenn would be starting in relief of Tate Rodemaker at quarterback. Florida State utilized a Wildcat attack to offset any lack of familiarity for the frosh, with a 73-yard rush from Lawrance Toafili setting up a 2-yard...

It’s championship weekend in college football and somehow that means fewer trophies will be handed out this week than last week. That may not make sense to many non-college football fans, but the diehards know there’s nothing quite like battling your rival for a chance to hoist a five-foot Paul Bunyan or a pair of boots that are somehow related to Howard Schnellenberger. Regardless of how you celebrate championship weekend, the fact is the college football season is nearly over and that...

The Florida State Seminoles rallied to overcome an early 12-0 deficit and claim the victory over their Florida Gators on Saturday, polishing off their seventh perfect season in program history. It certainly wasn’t pretty, but the Noles found enough plays espoecially in the run game to pull away late and allow the defense to once again close out their opponent. Now, the Noles sit just one game away from an undefeated ACC championship season with only the Louisville Cardinals standing in the...

It was a first quarter to forget for Florida State, who had just -7 total yards and a single drive over the first 15 minutes. But there are four of them in a football game and in the end, FSU managed to take care of business, covering the spread and beating the Florida Gators 24-15 to finish the regular season perfect. The second quarter didn’t start off any better, as Florida was able to ride third down conversion after third down conversion to take a 10-0 lead (its first touchdown coming...

Rivalry weekend is one of if not the best tradition in the college football. For the large part, it’s in-state schools in a battle built completely on dislike, disdain or just pure uncut hatred. And every year brings a brand new twist to the rivalry. For some like Florida, it’s a chance to ruin your rival’s dream season. For teams like Ohio State and Michigan, it’s the only chance either team has to play a team that is worth anything so it’s for all the who knows how good either team is...

Facing off against its first ranked opponent of the 2023-24 season, Florida State took on the No. 18 Colorado Buffaloes in the championship round of the Sunshine Slam in Daytona Beach on Tuesday. FSU, having taken down UNLV the night before, battled with the Buffaloes over the course of a tight 40-minute matchup. It was another huge night from Jamir Watkins, who had a dynamic night for the Seminoles with a double-double (18 points, 11 rebounds). He was joined by Jalen Warley (19 points) and...

A night to celebrate a Florida State senior class that led the abrupt turnaround of the program and the leader that made it all possible ended in an instant. Star quarterback Jordan Travis, that leader and the guy who is most responsible for this team’s 10-0 start, had the rest of his season and FSU career come to a close before anybody was ready. On this episode of the Seminole Wrap podcast, Brian Pellerin, Jon Marchant and Ben Meyerson share their still fresh thoughts on the injury to...

No. 4 Florida State (11-0, 8-0 ACC) will head into next week’s rivalry showdown against the Florida Gators with a chance to cap off an undefeated regular season after beating North Alabama 58-13. The matchup, which served as Senior Night and the Seminoles’ home finale, saw Florida State go down 13-0 early then lose quarterback Jordan Travis to a horrific leg injury. Families are gathering together. Food is being prepared in multitudes. Drinks are being consumed aplenty. Tis Thanksgiving season. So allow me to be sentimental for a moment. For starters, thank you to the loyal readers, commenters and listeners for reading, commenting and listening. We couldn’t do this silly little article and podcast without you all. Second, I want to thank this college football season because what a drunk mess it has been. Michigan alone has had their head coach suspended...

The Florida State Seminoles extended their overall winning streak to 16 games with a 27-20 victory over the Miami Hurricanes. It was their third consecutive win over the Canes. The return of wide receivers Keon Coleman and Johnny Wilson was a welcome sight for the Noles as Wilson led the team in receptions and receiving yards while Coleman made nice plays on punt return and caught Travis’ lone touchdown. RB Trey Benson added two touchdowns of his own as well. The Noles defense also impressive...

Last year Florida State opened the season by trailing Stetson for nearly 40 minutes in a 83-74 home loss, ultimately not winning their first game until their 5th attempt. This is not last season. The Seminoles jumped on the Kennesaw State Owls from the get-go, playing with significantly more pace on offense and purpose on defense to dismantle the defending Atlantic Sun Conference champs 94-67. Michael Rogner and Matt Minnick break down Florida State's 1-0 start to the season plus upcoming...

It’s a cliche that comes true far too often — in rivalry games, forget the records and matchup on paper. No. 4 Florida State came into Saturday’s game against Miami as a 14.5-point favorite at kickoff, riding a two-game win streak in the series against the Hurricanes and on a 15-game win streak overall. FSU took a 10-point lead early, effectively shutting down Miami for the bulk of the first quarter outside two explosive pass plays but the Hurricanes stormed back in the second, holding the...

Believe it or not, it is still hurricane season in the Atlantic region even though by this time of the year things are really winding down. That of course is a pattern for the meteorological hurricane season, but it also applies to the Miami Hurricanes of late. Look out in August and September, you never know what to expect in October and things go back to largely quiet in November. This year, the slide comes from the injuries and loss of confidence from QB Tyler Van Dyke. Most hurricanes...

The Florida State Seminoles are heading back to the ACC Championship Game for the first time since 2014 after their 24-7 victory over the Pittsburgh Panthers. The Noles were able to handle business against an outmatched Pitt team without their top two offensive weapons in wide receivers Keon Coleman and Johnny Wilson, both missing the game. Even without those stars, Jordan Travis utilized Ja’Khi Douglas and the tight ends. This week, the Seminole Wrap crew — Brian Pellerin and Ben Meyerson...

Another week, another win for the Florida State Seminoles. The Noles have put in some strong efforts this season, but Saturday’s road victory may have been their best this year. Quarterback Jordan Travis put on a show with more than 300 total yards — 273 passing and 38 rushing — and 4 total touchdowns in the first half. Travis’ first half was more than the FSU defense allowed the Demon Deacons in the entire game. Overall, it was a dominant effort for Florida State on the road against an...

No. 4 Florida State, despite a dominant defensive performance in the first quarter, found themselves ahead just 10-7 at the start of the second. By halftime, that lead had exploded to 34-7. The Seminoles' defense didn’t buckle for the bulk of the first half, effectively forcing garbage time by the third quarter because of how effectively Florida State was able to shut down what Wake Forest was attempting to do. The Demon Deacons got 70 yards on two plays — and then 11 on all others. Florida...

The Pac-12 is the gift that keeps on giving this year. They’re absolutely stacked with fun teams that seem to all play completely different styles and this week. Everybody has varying degrees of the same strengths and the same weaknesses. Almost all of them are really good offenses with terrible to above average defenses. Then there’s Utah. The Utes are missing their starting quarterback Cam Rising who seems destined to take this year as a medical redshirt as he works his way back from a torn...
