Long-time listener, but can’t stand for the horrific Israel-Palestine takes
I’ve been listening to Pivot for years now… I really enjoyed the tech focus and the tangents into relationships, modern capitalism and general politics. However, since October I’ve found myself listening less and less as I have found Scott’s takes on the Israeli position against Palestine tone-deaf, upsetting and incredibly ill-informed… what I have been more disappointed by is Kara’s lack of challenge to some of the more questionable takes he makes on the podcast. I usually enjoy their banter and disagreements on most other topics and I even like the dirty dad jokes and other mad takes because they’re actually funny / well-informed. However, the Israel-Palestine conflict is one of the most harrowing humanitarian crises in our generation and Scott’s absolute reluctance to acknowledge the human cost to Palestinians (and the thousands of deaths) is just ignorant at best, and horrific at worst. Yes, it is a complex, nuanced issue. But there are many other commentators who can have compassion for Israelis and Palestinians and are spouting one-sided propaganda (which does exist on both sides, as with everything). I’m afraid I’ll be unsubscribing.

Generally like the show but...the latest episode grated. The personal chemistry mostly works, but a little less of KS as the subject for discussion is better. We don't need another personality cult...honest!

I enjoy the topics and the guests on this show, however I am bothered by the fact that Lauren and Kara talk over each other frequently breaking into sentences before the person speaking is finished. While this type of conversation may work in person, hearing just the audio portion is annoying.

If I was being pedantic I might say people can’t be "Too Embarrassed To Ask" otherwise you wouldn’t get any questions. I suppose “I'm nervous about this question but I’m going to ask it anyway” isn’t quite as catchy. Seriously though great show with engaging hosts that I always learn...Read full review »
