“I had heard a lot of great things about your Cartoon podcast, so I decided to give it a listen. I was thrilled when I discovered that you'd done an episode on my all-time favorite cartoon, "Underdog," so I decided to listen to that one first...then I wasn't so thrilled.
I get that not everybody likes "Underdog." It's goofy. It's stupid. It's badly animated. However, the story behind the show is infinitely more interesting than the actual show itself. I'd recommend picking up "How Underdog Was Born" by Buck Biggers and Chet Stover. They tell the story behind the creation of the TV show and what inspired them, and they discuss their rivalry with Jay Ward (creator of "Rocky and Bullwinkle").
I didn't listen to this entire episode; I had mentally checked out some time during the rant about the "Transformers" franchise (which lasted roughly thirteen minutes). The guys running this podcast kept getting distracted and going off-topic; they also didn't do a whole lot of research when putting this thing together (a large chunk of what I listened to consisted of them asking each other which studio produced "Underdog," making me wonder why no one bothered to look this up before hand).
I give this two stars because I don't care enough about it to hate it, but I won't be listening to any more episodes.”
