Thank you!
As an addict myself; I wish this podcast was requirement to listen too; especially if someone wants to have an opinion on addiction but has never dealt with addiction firsthand (whether a loved one, friend, coworker, or themselves). So many, too many actually, have the “lock them up! They’re criminals, all of em” or the “Narcan shouldn’t be free!! It just gives them an excuse to use with no consequences! Disgusting! My cousins boyfriends daughters child’s dog has to pay for diabetes medication but these junkies get this stuff for free!” Or “MAT recovery is just time released hair-oh-in (not sure if that word is allowed in the reviews on Apple) and these junkies are getting h!gh from it! That’s not sober” but these people who preach these comments have never held someone’s child while they slowly die from an OD and by the grace of God someone had Narcan in their purse and saved them. That person could have meant to buy coca**e and it was laced or maybe they had been in jail and gotten out and they just weren’t ready to be sober or they wanted to do it “one more time” and did the amount they used to do, not thinking about the fact they’d been sober for months” I could go on and on and on and stick up for the addict who’s voice is muted by a judgmental middle aged white woman who steps on the opposite side of the street when they pass a homeless addict on the sidewalk instead of asking them if they’re hungry- but then they walk 5 minutes longer and donate that $10 that would have paid for that homeless persons only meal for the next 3 days to some high school dance event 🙄 I would love love love to share my story on going from 390 pounds to 130 pounds and going from a food addiction to drug addiction whilst enduring physical abuse and how being sober doesn’t mean you’re recovered!

This podcast is very informative. I’m a doctoral student in public health and I’m thoroughly enjoying this content. I’m also impressed that Ahana Wokhlu is a high school student. She does a great job in her interviews.
