Description
Joining us today on the Traxion.GG Podcast is the BMW’s Head of Sim Racing, Rudolf Dittrich. Dittrich has worked for BMW’s M Motorsport division in the past, his last role before stepping into the virtual racing world being Head of Vehicle Development. On this episode, he explains that BMW believes sim racing to be another branch of motorsport and equally as important to the business. The prevalence of BMW vehicles in racing games and sims is no coincidence, therefore, with BMW cars and motorcycles appearing in diverse titles such as Ride 4, RiMS Racing, Assetto Corsa Competizione, iRacing, RaceRoom Racing Experience, rFactor 2 and even mobile game Real Racing 3. BMW’s commitment to sim racing is also underlined by its technical partnership with sim racing peripheral manufacturer Fanatec, thanks to the co-development of the BMW M4 GT3 racecar’s steering wheel. This is all part of BMW’s drive to engage with younger audiences and promote BMW products through the positive medium of esports and gaming.
