Your views on DEI are so insightful, particularly its appearance in all aspects of modern life particularly in places that a meritocracy is key.
You should have a guest on to talk about its appearance in NHS workforce planning.
There’s recently been released a long term workforce plan for the NHS which plans for massive introduction of physician associates to (some say) replace doctors. The PA course is just a 2 year postgraduate degree, compared to 5 years for medicine.
This is causing significant angst among doctors and other health care professionals, and despite this the rollout is being pushed by NHS England and the GMC. PAs impact on training of doctors/surgeons and there have been a few high profile cases of misdiagnosis/mismanagement of patients by PAs leading to deaths.”
