“If you like dark fantasy, psychological horror and the reversal of “heroic adventurer” tropes, or even just good horror storytelling, check out Trophy. I’ve become a huge fan of its tone, accessible rules and collaborative nature between players and GM.
This is a perfect introduction to Trophy, if you’ve heard about the game but wonder how it actually plays. It’s also a great example of how to GM, as the first episode demonstrates the setting of tone and expectations before taking the players on what’s likely to be a bleak adventure where terrible things happen to their characters. I really like how both the GM and players are building tension in the story - you know it’s going to keep getting darker but it’s a delightful journey.”
