William Palmer was a British doctor known as the Rugeley Poisoner. He was convicted of murdering his friend so he could steal money to pay off gambling debts. Although he was convicted of one murder, it is suspected that Palmer poisoned up to 15 people, including his wife and infant children.

He liked to spend his time gambling on horse races, and then he would poison those around him when he needed money.
