Useful and witty
I don’t have any children yet. I didn’t have the best childhood and don’t really have anyone to speak about the experiences of child birth, postpartum life or what to expect. Listening to these podcasts have really helped me to understand the reality of having children compared to what you see everywhere else. Lottie has helped me see that, although children are amazing, there are lots of difficulties that come with motherhood. It’s given me a view of what to expect when I do have a child and how things never go to plan! When I was younger I was desperate to have a child, I’d even planned how I wanted to give birth! Now I understand that having plans are good, but you have to be able to accept that things might not go that way. I also love that she normalises the mental health aspect that comes with motherhood and having people on her podcast talk about their mental health struggles before pregnancy has really helped me to see that it can be done, although it may be a bit more difficult. Listening to the podcasts is almost like being a third wheel in a friendship, I really feel involved and drawn in. I listen to them on the way home and before I know it I’ve arrived back and it feels like no time has gone!
