“This podcast was recommended on the fb page I follow dedicated to BRIDGERTON which is why I looked at it.
I quite liked the way in which the presenters took apart the first episode scene by scene although it was a bit haphazard. They were having fun with it but it did seem to be interspersed with a lot of their own experiences as well.
Felicity was in London on holiday with her nanny & child & suddenly met someone blah , blah . What has this to do with BRIDGERTON ? That then was met by a similar story by Tom. Why?
Felicity said she’d read bk. 1 . Yayyyy. Tom hadn’t read the books .
They both said they had learnt things & done some research before doing the podcast. Mmmmm.
So then they surely would have known that the Regency era gained its name from the Regent, this being the son of George III & Queen Charlotte , who was also called George.
Also the ladies of that era wore no knickers/ underwear. They did however have have what we would call ‘sanitary ‘ cloths which were reusable & used for their ‘courses’ or periods. Virginity in the Upper Classes was prized & could make or break marriage proposals as could being caught in a compromising situation I.e. alone with a gentleman ,unchaperoned.
And finally. A gooseberry is a fruit used in pies & jams.
I will listen to the 2nd episode to give this pair a fair chance but I much prefer the Shondalsnd official podcast. At least they do their homework.”
