Biased…
Listening to Season 4 and find the bias really strange. There’s a clear tendency to explain away any evidence of Bob Ward’s guilt. Seem to criticise prosecution/expert witnesses when they construct a narrative, but seem only to happy to construct their own narrative, asking whether the victim might have been plotting a murder suicide. Just baffling. I can only assume that there’s big money in offering contrarian perspectives in the name of “justice.” Reminds me of a podcast that posited that Scott Peterson is innocent. I just hope people realize that this is all done to stir up controversy in order to get more downloads and make more money for the hosts. It’s the defense’s job to create alternative narratives and poke holes in the prosecution’s case…but EVERY SINGLE case has these elements…that doesn’t mean every single convicted murderer is actually innocent just because there are some unknowns or ambiguities or because family members support the defendant and say he could never have done this. We often think those we love aren’t capable of heinous crimes. And we don’t always get to see the ugly side of them.

Alexis and Billy are incredible journalists who put their all into a story. I am so glad they are working together on this podcast as well as The First Degree, I can’t get enough of these two.

This podcast is a true gem. I love true crime podcasts, wait let me rephrase, I love true crime podcasts that are done WELL. This definitely falls in that category. Unraveled and The First Degree are my two favorite heavy hitters. This is a subscription you’ll thank yourself for over and over.
