“I give Shea a ton of credit for carving out a specific spot on the internet for himself. He has mastered the art of talking about sports to people who never played/aren’t very smart. He completely dumbs down sports in a fun way all the losers and dorks on the internet can feel a part of. He is by far the Ringers most popular personality, it’s not a shock the website has doubled down on this strategy. It’s sad because it was the exact opposite way at Grantland. The way he covers pop culture is very similar. If you ever look at the freaks and mutants that are in his mentions repeating his same jokes you can quickly get the idea of the type of people he appeals to. I wish I thought of this bit first. A lot of freaks and mutants on social media these days.”
