Description
Andrew Berardini is a writer based in Los Angeles. He worked as a curator for the Armory Center for the Arts (Pasadena) and LAXART (Los Angeles), and as editor at Semiotext(e) Press. He currently holds the position of editor for the European magazine Mousse and deputy editor for the online publication Artslant. Andrew’s articles and essays have been featured in: Frieze, Fillip, Artforum, X-TRA, Artnet, Paper Monument, Art Review, Rolling Stone, Public Fiction, Modern Painters, and he regularly contributes to LA Weekly. Curatorial endeavors include: Arte Sur - Collective Fictions (2013), Palais de Tokyo, Paris; Within The River of Time Is My Mind: Chris Johanson (2013), MOCA, Los Angeles; Hipnostasis: Raymond Pettibon & Yoshua Okon (2009), Armoury Centre for the Arts, Pasadena; Public Fiction (2012) with Lauren Mackler, Artissima Lido Festival, Turin; as well as numerous group shows in San Francisco, LA, Vienna, and Milan. Books by Andrew include: Get In (2nd Cannons, Los Angeles, 2011); The Sisyphean Labour of Expanded Painting: The Work of Richard Jackson (The Rennie Collection, Vancouver, 2010); and a contribution to the 2012 Whitney Biennial catalogue. His research focuses on issues of permeability between imagination and reality. He is currently faculty at the Mountain School of Arts, Los Angeles. Andrew Berardini is lead faculty for the Banff International Curatorial Institute residency – Critical Art Writing Ensemble.
