Wilfrid Almendra is a French/Portuguese artist who lives and works in Cholet, France. His work draws upon architectural influences found in the shapes and surfaces around us; bringing together diverse sources and materials to create sculptures that reference the practices of hobbyist, cite the designs of major architects of the Modern era, and question social class divisions, labour and alternative economies. Wilfrid Almendra is guest faculty of the Visual Arts residency program Are we looking at dead birds?
