The ultimate goal of the biblical story is a new heaven and a new earth, a purified and tested creation. The new Jerusalem and the new Eden are images of the restored and perfected creation. The Bible calls believers to live holy lives and build on the foundation of Jesus Christ. The function of hell in the biblical story is a topic that requires further exploration. The resurrection of Jesus is a pivotal event that launches the new creation project. The human element in the Bible is evident in the flaws and struggles of the early church.
