“Mike,
The episode with AJ is much better quality. There are still issues with volume levels that could be worked on in order to make the listening experience better. I promise I’m only saying this to be helpful. I love your podcast. It has been incredibly helpful and thought provoking. I love what you’re doing.
I’m not an audio professional by any stretch. I think the biggest thing that could help is to check the levels of you and your guest before you get started. I imagine there are free softwares or apps to do this. Once the levels are set then make sure you’re consistent in how close you are to the mic and be aware of your own volume when you get excited or laugh especially. There are things like compressors that audio pros could help you with. They would automatically raise or lower volumes to keep a consistent output to the listener so you wouldn’t have to be as concerned about this while you’re recording.
I have a friend who owns Resonate Recordings. He works with podcasters for this specific purpose. I did not review this to make a plug. I don’t know any of the specifics on how his service works. I just know he could at least give you some professional advice.

You don’t need any fluff. You’re doing amazing work! I think it should be a simple fix and I hope others have given you some help in this area also. I am sorry I put all of this in a review, not sure this is the best place for it. But I hope more people get connected with your work. I’ve honestly had several podcasts that have similar audio issues. You’re the only one I’ve reached out to because I want to keep listening to what you’re doing.”
