Calling all Toronto history fans!!
Back in our first pandemic winter, the only thing to do to avoid going crazy was go for walks. And as I walked, I started noticing more about Toronto. I was suddenly obsessed with learning about our architecture and history. I googled “Toronto history podcasts” to see what was out there, and lo, found an article in The Star (I think?) about Walking in Place. What a find!!!! If you, too, love fun facts about Toronto’s past, this is the channel to tune into. To be honest I don’t necessarily listen “in situ” — I’m often washing dishes or brushing my teeth while following along, storing up Ashley’s stories for later explorations. They are well timed, bursting with info, progressive, and so soothing. I have learned so much about the city, which I try to repeat to my friends but then just direct them to Walking in Place. The gentle city sounds in the background add such depth. Ashley, thank you for creating this and for keeping it going. I can only imagine how much work goes into making an episode, and it’s so appreciated!!

This is my favourite podcast to listen to while at work. It doesn’t demand a lot of my attention but it’s so compelling and full of interesting information that I want to have it on all the time.
