These two Ajax boys review books in ways that baffle me. Sometimes thoughtful discussions are jettisoned for the most hyperbolic stances on a quality, disregarding large portions of textual evidence for perceived creator intent. They weigh abstract against finished product as if both bring equal value to the table. Being completely real, I find Matt far more eloquent in his opinion. He tends not to immediately swing for the poles and comes off as more than just a collection of excitedly shouted brand names like his co-host Chris. I’d just say be cautious when recommending this to people. It’s a faltered balancing act between a guy who considers the nuanced angles in reviews/interviews and one who is the epitome of Comic Book Guy from the Simpsons. This ends up tipping War Rocket Ajax ever more into snobbish territory where punching down is king.

This is absolutely a phenomenal podcast. Professional Batmanologist Chris Sims and the much better than tolerable Matt Wilson do a great job hosting and keeping things moving along. They have great guests, and recommend some awesome comics. You'll definitely find something here to like.Read full review »
