“My son, Jack, was 3 years old when I first started to speak to him about leadership and how he could be a leader in his ore-school class. About 1 and a half years ago I started listening to Jocko podcast and was able to really learn more about leadership, my own struggles with leadership, and how to teach my son more about how to be a leader. We bought Way of the Warrior Kid 1 year ago (Jack was 5) and he wanted to hear me read to him each night. At the time, he would only want to drink apple juice. However, as soon as Uncle Jake informed Mark he should be drinking milk to get strong, he only drinks milk and water. He loves this book so much he keeps it in its own drawer of his desk. Nothing else is allowed in that drawer but the book.
Fast forward to kindergarten, I pick him up after school to find him showing his friends and the teachers he can do a pull up! I didn’t even know he could do one at 6 years old. When I asked him how could do it, he told me he practiced like Mark. Now he is working on one handed push ups!!!!
Now that the Way of the Warrior kid podcast or out, every morning he asks if Uncle Jake is on the radio. He loves the questions kids are asking, as many of them are things he has asked or questioned. Hearing stories from Uncle Jake has given him the determine to practice and succeed in tee ball as well.
If you have a child you want to help change, the podcast and book are a great start.”
