Developing Fluency
Listen now
Description
Fluency is the ability to read aloud without hesitation and with good inflection. Without fluency, readers struggle to comprehend the words they read. Recognizing the importance of fluency in reading comprehension, the RAVE-O program helps students make connections between words, leading to more automatic decoding and word recognition. For more information about teaching kids to read and helping those who struggle, visit www.readingrockets.org. Reading Rockets is a national education service of public television station WETA. Funding is provided by a grant from the U.S. Department of Education.
