Surprisingly Satisfactory
Listened to the first five episodes for no other reason than because it was 3 people I know, 1 of which I liked, putting out a podcast. Tuned out after the novelty wore off because it was rubbish. Last night, during a session with my girlfriend, the podcast auto played after my bedroom playlist ended. Should have made the bedroom playlist longer than one song in hindsight but the “Skinald” in me (host of the Skin’s Stats segment of the show) analysed prior performances and made an informed decision on required playlist length based on available data. The mood was far from ruined however, when “I’ll Make Love to You” by Boys II Men was replaced by the Wide World of Sports intro and then Richie Benaud’s soothing salutation. What a voice. Suddenly my girlfriend wasn’t the only one in the room who was in heaven. This high was short lived though, as I realized I wasn’t actually listening to extended highlights audio of the ‘99 Australia v Zimbabwe match in Bulawayo in which Mark Waugh posted his 13th ODI century. No, I was being subjected to the We Got The Chocolates podcast again, in a surprise attack not unlike the time U2 uploaded their full album to my iTunes without my consent, forcing me to start a #U2metoo movement for other Bono victims with MSN Messenger as my platform. My crusade was quickly shutdown with an under the table payout that I later used to lure Simon Milenko to the Redlands Tigers Cricket Club. He may deny this. Anyway, the rocking bed had caused my phone to fall off the side table so I was forced to listen to the full 30 minutes of episode 51. I recall previously finding the length to be more than I could handle (that’s what she said) but to my surprise I found the revamped episode to be both engaging and informative. I also found the attempts at humour to be, well, humorous. All in all it’s taken this bunch of ragtag misfits 50 episodes to put out a product that doesn’t make me want to fill my ears with superglue. So for their persistence, I’ve given them 5 stars. I will however end with some constructive criticism. Lose the host. Heazlett adds star power and Mitch knows his stuff, but the other bloke is just filling in time. He is supposed to be anchoring an amateur sports podcast but is so biased he failed to mention my 6-1, 6-3, 6-2 victory over him at tennis a few weeks back. My advice to the WGTC executives, draw inspiration from the Titans’ Fifita signing and throw the cheque book at Marty Sheargold who has just announced that he is off contract in three weeks and will no longer be a part of Nova’s “Kate, Tim and Marty Show” podcast. An actual good podcast that anyone reading this should absolutely favour over this one. Sheargold has spent a decade at the top and in his own words “is looking for a new challenge.” Ripe for the picking surely. Oh and one more thing. Take all other reviews with a grain of salt. Heazlett has 47 different aliases that he uses to get free trials for Netflix, Stan, WowGirls and Jackbox (only one of those is a porn site). You seriously think he isn’t spending his days leaving 5 star reviews for this podcast using all those different email addresses? Conspiracy theory or candour? You decide. (PS if I go missing it was Sam Heazlett)

My unique moment playing We Got The Chocolates in the morning. Can’t tolerate listening to my colleagues for the first half hour of the day, airpods in and listening to this good stuff instead 🤌🏼 *chefs kiss*. Accidentally listened at the gym once, too. Almost forgot I wasn’t enjoying myself.
