Aphra Behn
It was wonderful to hear Sandi talk about Aphra Behn. One of my absolute heroes. She might be interested to look at some of the eighteenth century women writers like Penelope Aubin, who it was declared was a pious author! You read her books she was anything but. It’s been suggested that she used this title to stop some people (men) bothering with her books and therefore finding what she was really writing about! (Check Debbie Welham’s PhD thesis on her)

An always-fascinating podcast from the fabulous Sandi. Spoiled only - but significantly and infuriatingly by the unnecessarily loud and strident 'alarm' tones at the end introducing an ad. Are there NO decent sound engineers these days? Or thoughtful listener-considerate advertisers?Read full review »

This podcast came to me at just the right time. Short and sweet like a mini QI, Sandi expresses the strengths of strong and intellectual women in history, or at least she finds a way to include a notable woman in history. Thank you so much for this, it’s perfect to listen to on my breaks at work!
