Informative, intelligent
I make it a point to catch up every now and then with the folks at the Weekly Space Hangout. It’s an excellent, lovingly nerdy way to catch up on what’s happening in the world of space and space exploration. It’s not overly polished nor are the guests self absorbed which makes the excellent scientific learning all the more approachable. However, I have seen, on occasion Amy Shira Teitel which is the only trouble part of the program. Specifically, I have read about her problems with plagiarism which, in my opinion should keep her off of the panels. I have spent much time in academia and cheating is an unforgivable shortcut about which some have become all too flippant. I cannot watch anything where she is involved, be it NASA T.V. or the Weekly Space Hangout. There are many, many people who do the hard work in an honest way. I’m sorry but cute and perky do not trump rigorous honesty and hard work. Another related podcast is Astronomy Cast which dedicates each episode to a single, searchable topic. Outstanding. Dr. Pamela Gay provides understanding on astronomy topics, complete with academic rigor.

Every week they have special guests from all over, NASA, JPL, Cassini, Godard etc. I’ve learned more from this podcast, that i’ve learned from books, and online courses.
