Sigh. High Expectation Dashed Uninformative, Unentertaining and Dull
I have been reading Slate for nearly years and have tried their podcasts. I was expecting that this one would help keep me up to date on current trends, memes, culture and media. I had worked in the pop cultural and media world for almost 20 year, before leaving for a different direction about five years ago, but always kept up with the latest in the adaptation and technical side, but lost touch on content, jargon, and culture. This show’s remit fits that, it’s execution does not, to work: meandering, maximally self-obsessed, over reported minutely esoteric stories, narrowcasted and self-important. I have wasted enough time listening to several episodes and, now this, my first rating on the dozens of podcasts have tried going back to Adam Curry.

Best new podcast of its kind in a long time if ever. Hosted by a fantastic professional. Slate should keep this running, the pilot is already a success no need to stop or tinker after the midterms.

This is Slate's verison of a daily 20 minute story using in-house (and sometimes other) reporters to go beyond the headlines on the news. I love the format (short) and I look forward to What Next as much...Read full review »
