“I just listened to the first two episodes of What's Happening Here. Thank you for creating this podcast. I was blown away by the first student's story, and the way her teacher helped her navigate being a teenager in high school in addition to being an immigrant in New York City. It reminds me of the essential bond teachers and their students can form, and how important it is for young people to have guides and mentors in their lives. This made me reflect on my own high school experience. It's one thing to read or hear about immigrants, it's another entirely to hear a personal story that is not a political one, simply human. Beautiful work, and special props to Katie Shepherd for hosting this show.”
