Another podcast (only listened to season 4) where the narrator has no investigative skills so the entire podcast is filled with interviews of the victim & suspects families. Therefore there was no forensic or any other type of evidence presented on the case. This is not a true crime podcast,...Read full review »

I listen to so many podcast, but Island Crime is my favourite! Having a journalists perspective is so different than having someone without that experience tell them story. I live in Vancouver and have spent so much time on the Island, but it’s the narratives perspective that keeps me coming back!

It draaaaaaags on and the narrator is painfully monotonous. I couldn't pay attention for more than a few seconds at a time. I actually forgot I was listening to something until I got a phone call.Read full review »

I gave 3 stars because I did want to hear the stories but I think there are two major issues with this podcast. I look at most true crime podcasts as adding value to some extent…meaning true investigative journalism…digging and uncovering things that law enforcement etc missed or didn’t explore...Read full review »

Victim-focused and compassionate journalism. Your work is important and you fight for justice. I am sad there’s more stories to hear but I know your effort is to spread awareness and help these families. People complaining about the narration - listen to it at 1.25x or just appreciate the...Read full review »

I found the commentator difficult to listen too. Struggling to decipher what was being said because of the tension, excitement or uncertainties in her story telling. Pausing or emphasizing on the wrong words or syllables. It’s unfortunate because I would have liked to hear the story, but I...Read full review »

Started season four. I really don’t see how telling stories of reminiscing can help find this missing woman. Your listeners need to know what was going on during the time she disappeared if you want their help. I’m on S1E3 and I just can’t get past all the interviews and stories. This podcast...Read full review »

Maybe I have been spoiled by the likes of Serial and Someone Knows Something but this doesn’t come close to matching up. The narration is overly scripted and monotoned. The interviews lack depth focuses mostly on how pretty and smart Lisa was. The most disappointing thing is that this isn’t a...Read full review »

I like that Laura’s podcast focuses on the victim, their lives and the community they lived in. A bit different than other true crime podcasts that focuses on just the investigative part. I guess it’s a fine balance but season one has been good so far. Laura sounds like a confident interviewer...Read full review »

Very good (but sad) story. Hoping someone will come forward. Excellent information from experts regarding child abductions, amber alerts, how things have changed, for the better, with technology.

i’d never heard anything about this person and found it very interesting, it was good to hear people speak about Lisa. I hope some justice can be done, it’s tragic for her and her family that they have never known what happened. Great work bringing this to our attention. Great reporting!!

I have to say, I love the way the host handles this show. However, when she’s peaking to the dna expert in later episodes, I felt that the dna expert was just on here to promote themselves and how intelligent they are, etc. It didn’t feel like a genuine want for the family, it felt like a...Read full review »

I’ve listened to this series twice, it’s that good. It’s haunting. It stays with you. Beautifully presented, and thoughtfully pieced together. I can’t get Lisa Marie Young out of my head. I hope this podcast helps to bring answers to her family and friends. To us all.

Thank you for doing a podcast on missing Michael. Michaels missing poster is pretty much a part of my childhood. It was in every store we went to and I was so curious about this boy with the fish that was the same age as me. Ive been so hopeful that he would be found, I hope this podcast helps!

Content is good. Narration is HORRIBLE! Podcast sounds very unprofessional. Sounds like narrator/researcher is reading a script. The halting. Speech. Of the narrator. Makes this. Very hard. To listen to. It sounds. Like an SNL. Impression of. A news reporter. (Which is unfortunate because these local stories deserve as much attention as possible!)

I don’t mean to sound like a jerk but I’m literally on episode 4 of season 3 (about Michael D) and we STILL haven’t gotten into the meat of anything. I don’t know if the issue is on my end, but the podcast S3:E2 sounds like it’s sped up. It’s noticeable and not a good production decision. Podcasts should sound natural. Air, pauses and natural rhythm of each speaker is good in a quality podcast. Like I said, the issue could be on my end.
