I think that Laura has a lot of empathy, curiosity, tact, and bravery. She’s bringing important cold cases to light and helps the public gain knowledge and understanding. Great work keep it coming.

Nothing new revealed and soft interviews with suspect. Season 1 ends with nothing resolved as if a day named after lisa is an ending. Pass.

Very well done. Some complain about the slow narrating, but I love it. Gives me time to process the very important information before more is being told. Well done, well done - Don’t stop :)

Re: Amber. Such a sad story. Lots of interviews with friends which describe Amber, but not a lot of detail about the evidence or the lack of. I have so many questions after listening. I expected Laura would touch on these obvious questions within the podcast.

This could be a good podcast but I can’t get past the weird, robotic narration.

I really want to listen to all seasons because the stories are so compelling but the story telling is so robotic and broken up I feel like I’m listening to AI. It’s hard for me to focus on the details.

Great subject matter, very sad case and I thought the host was educated about the case and did a thorough job researching and reporting. However (and unfortunately this However pretty much negates all of that good stuff I just wrote), the middle episodes of like 3-9 are pretty much pointless...Read full review »

The Dunahee podcast shocked me. I believe the realtor and I trust the gut instinct of the retired police officer. I think the solution to this crime was there all along.

I could be biased because I’m born and raised on the island and so was my father, but this podcast is amazing I can listen to it over and over. My father helped look for Michael when he went missing so when I talked to him about that season it brought back so many memories for him. This podcast...Read full review »

The narration of this is terrible.

One of the best true crime podcasts out there! Gets straight to the point and speaks clearly and not robotic. You hear from the victims loved ones but not too much where it’s the whole episode. Really good podcast!!

I really enjoy listening to Island Crime. I grew up on the island and never knew about Lisa Marie Young, the missing men or Michael Dunahee, until I was in my 20s and fell in love with this podcast. I listen to many true crime podcasts, and Laura’s voice is one of my top 3 favourite to listen to....Read full review »

Each season focuses on a different crime, or several crimes that appear to share a connection. While I live in Toronto and have only very occasionally visited British Columbia (where the crimes took place) the fact that the series involves victims, cities and police forces that are all Canadian...Read full review »

Really good ethical journalism. All seasons are very well done. A true crime must listen.

Nancy is a true professional and I appreciate the change of pace from the standard spurious approach to true crime. Great work.

I find the part where Lisa goes into foster care quite ambiguous and certainly not well explored. A teenager doesn’t just go into care just because the parents are arguing! It just doesn’t make sense. Either explain something for what it is or what you think it is, or just leave il, don’t even...Read full review »

Thank you Laura for doing the podcast, as I live on the island now but was gone for 30 years at one point in my life. I have found your Podcasts very informational and at times very sad for all the lives cut so short, and the mysteries around what happened. I know you live in Port Alberni now. I...Read full review »

.this show went way downhill fast. By episode 5, Laura Palmer is using really generalizing language to talk about sex work. As a former sexworker myself, I can promise you people don't just do that work to make some guy happy. Having someone book your clients can be a form of protection and...Read full review »

Well-researched and good to hear from the families. Portraits of the victims are respectful and in-depth. But the narrator’s slow and staccato speaking style can be irritating.

Kudos to you on your reporting of Michael’s disappearance. This report brought chills, especially the brown van man, it sure hits too close to home! …about a really important story. I hope all your work leads to some answers in this case. I know from experience that the Nanaimo RCMP hasn’t always taken sexual assault seriously. Good on you for holding their feet to the fire.

I have listened to many true crime podcasts but I love the way you do yours. You get right in there and get some answers and you don’t give up. I wish you weren’t all the way across Canada as I am an advocate for a local missing man and no one is talking. Anyways keep the great content coming. ❤️

I really enjoy this podcast, it’s well researched, the attention to details is so well down but the music in the background is really annoying. It’s too loud and doesn’t serve any purpose. This podcast can’t be called investigative journalism. I listened to season 5 over the course of about a week. Started listening to the Whiskey Creek episodes as it’s 10 minutes from where I live. Now I’m listening to them all. Laura tells an incredible story with deep research and compelling personal perspectives to each case. We are very fortunate to have this podcast series for our island community.

I’m not in Canada and I got completely sucked in. Laura delves right in. She doesn’t sugar coat the people involved and asks the uncomfortable questions.
