“I doubt it’s CBC’s intended message, but this series effectively highlights how one form of ideological extremism developing within the mainstream, can so easily give rise to reactionary ideologies that are even more harmful and toxic. As a podcast it’s engaging, with good production value. But I’m concerned that such a serious topic is being simplified and moralized without a deep enough analysis of how all this relates to neoliberal globalization and it’s disenfranchisement of both local culture and ecology. The original ‘Base’ from the Middle East was also a reaction to these.”
