So important, so well-told
Everyone should hear this story. And try to understand it. Process the implications of who died and who killed him and the motives behind the cover up and the power of the lie that we white people have been telling ourselves for generations. These reporters in particular were able to finally shine a light into the darkest, and most hidden corners of this story in part because of the privilege that was endowed upon them by this very lie, and they used that privilege in a masterful and deeply empathetic way to help us know our past, “lest we be bound to repeat it in the future”. The show as a whole is also excellent: brilliant investigative work, lovely and apt music choices, and the closest thing to a resolution that one could hoped for. Thank you for this beautiful work.

Selma was such a pivotal moment in the history of America for so many reasons. But this murder added a critical element.

“Violence is as American as apple pie.” A chilling start to the series. Looking forward to the next episode.
