Keeps Getting Better
Very well written, well told. As you keep listening, it builds and gets better. It plumbs the depths of human hatred and depravity, but also highlights the heights of human empathy and altruism. A remarkable juxtaposition. I love the interviews of Jim Reeb’s family as well as Elmer Cook’s descendants. Brought me to tears. I can’t help but think the cooperation they got from Alabamians would not have been possible if the reporters were not white. The hatred we express is the hatred our children will experience. The only true race traitors are those selling out their own race... the human race.

Dr. King asked us to examine our cultural cataracts. This is a humbling reminder of our individual responsibility for our national wellbeing and how without examining these events in our country’s conscience, we will not progress. The “forgotten” past lives with us today.

This story is chilling because if we’re honest we know it could happen today.
