Dilemma’s horns
A fascinating balance of competing tensions: self-aggrandisement v sycophancy. Hayes almost does it, almost keeps in check his urge to know that you know he’s the smartest one at the microphone by telling you all that he knows and the stuff that he doesn’t—astonishingly enough that can happen, even to him. Meanwhile, he never omits to grovel before his amazing awesome etc etc talent, to ingratiate, to embiggen, to boot lick, and at every half-opportunity to indulge in uxurious toadying. The sucking up wins out in the main. P.S I’m not sure his amazing etc etc wife (she’s like a cable tv weather lady, I think) could really be convinced/reassured by Hayes’s endless prostrations of inferiority, awe, amazement etc etc...resentment, envy, insincerity etc etc. Like Moe Szyslak says, methinks he doth protest too much.

More reviews of Why Is This Happening? The Chris Hayes Podcast
Smart. Passionate. Engaging. Warm. Felt like a kid wandering into an interesting conversation under a shade tree at a picnic . Felt included and respected as a listener. Look forward to more—great job!

I have listened to three of the podcasts now. I find them very illuminating and full of information and very thoughtful commentary.
