Description
Our guest today is Thuro Basil Jansen.  Thurlo runs the golf program for the Heal the Hood Project in some of the poorest communities around Cape Town South Africa.  Thurlo is the most giving and generous community leader I have ever had the honour of meeting.  Thurlo creates opportunities and uplifts the lives of children of colour through golf in the face of obstacles that should not exist for any human being.  Thurlo works tirelessly and gives everything to these kids, with very  limited resources, including from his own pocket.  This episode will hopefully inspire each of us to do more in our communities and around the world.  This episode is a call to action to you if you have the resources, to please consider giving generously to the Heal the Hood Project.  Please look at the show notes for details on how to do that.  Thurlo is our golf community leader of the year and we hope you will be inspired by Thurlo as much as we are.  We dedicate this episode to Thurlo, to the Heal the Hood Project, and to the many children that benefit from the Project.  We also dedicate this episode to the memory of Sewsunker Sewgolum , or Papwa as he was known, who defeated Gary Player in the South African Open in 1965 only to have his passport and livliehood taken away from him from the evil South African apartheid regime.  Let’s alld do whatever we can to give the Papwa’s of today and tomorrow the opportunities and life that they rightfully deserve. You can find out more about Thuro and his work on Instagram (@thurlob),  Facebook (Thurlo Basil Jansen) and on Twitter (@HealtheHoodZA).
