“Finally a podcast dedicated solely to turkeys and turkey research. Loving the first few episodes. I know y’all have discussed that harvest rates do not have as great of an impact as habitat quality but I’m curious to know how much impact does the harvest of jakes contribute to the issues at hand if any. Here in Georgia we are allowed to harvest jakes and in 2021 roughly 1,600 jakes were harvested. It would seem that that would be a potential 1,600 more 2 year old birds that could reproduce the following spring had they not been harvested. Just curious because I’ve never understood the the reason behind allowing Jake harvests.”
