Maybe for 30 seconds (with their Russian interpreter), the hosts reflected on the people who lived in the USSR or East Germany and why the song did and still holds so much power. A self indulgent vanity project that never stopped to ask why the song was so popular in the first place—because there are so many people who feel deeply about the song, the historical events, and those feelings are unknowable to outsiders like us.”
