“Grew up in Texas and lived through many of the times and issues described. Grace does a great job of presenting a chronological history of the outsized influence of the Christian right on textbooks and classroom standards. It helped to understand some of the current debate but revisiting the origins of citizen feedback on educational materials. I appreciated her facts and research without leaning too far into the politics, but instead, looking at some the reasons behind what is happening today.
