He graduated first in his class both at the University of North Carolina School of Law and at Dallas Theological Seminary. Matt has spent the bulk of his more than 25-year legal career practicing criminal law, both as a federal prosecutor and as a defense attorney. Early in his career, he served as a law clerk to Chief Justice William Rehnquist at the U.S. Supreme Court.
