Beijing’s Bad Tweet - a deplorable episode
To think I listened to this to get informed. The justification of Australian special forces war crimes was OFF the charts, swept under a rug. The first 10 minutes of this episode is completely devoted to “yeah but China is worse” and “look at what China does” and “don’t believe anything that China tweets” kinds of talk. It’s a total disaster. Do these hosts actually not care when democracies engage in foreign wars in poor countries and kill and abuse their citizens? This is a massive story that deserved attention but instead these hosts piled onto China because of a tweet. Why couldn’t the hosts at least acknowledge that Australia took FOUR years to investigate the murders committed by their soldiers they sent to Afghanistan to ally with the USA, there has been no justice, but at least Australia investigated this and publicly released their report. THAT is the story. The war that we fund as taxpayers goes towards killing innocent poor people. If you can’t face reporting and discussing that as hosts, that message will not get out and ultimately it will keep happening. These hosts inadvertently became a part of the problem with war propaganda because of their internal hegemony and ingrained blind spots. Kirby was the biggest culprit of this commentary, she actually laughed at “Afghan lives matter”, she literally laughed, then said “they do, but...” and continues to miss the most important point. I’m so disappointed. My advice is to put this podcast on hold, examine your beliefs and values, consider if you’re missing the point, consider if an apology or retraction is necessary.

Jennifer Williams is a great addition to this team;...Read full review »

The format and breakdown is awesome. Very insightful to the pertinent issues around the world that all people should be aware of! Really enjoyed the section about topics not as covered in headlines.

Really like the insight your brain trust brings to the audience. There's some profanity that seemed forced (calling out BS is all good, but a few less F-bombs would behoove you), but it's nothing excessive. Please keep churning out the goods for us.Read full review »
