Ep.199 - Tuskegee Airmen with Samuel de Korte
Listen now
Description
Samuel de Korte is a graduate student of Utrecht University, where he studied an MA in the Cultural History of Modern Europe. He wrote his Master's thesis about the representation of black Americans during the Second World War, indicating that although they formed a substantial part of the American armed forces, they don't receive an equal share in the representation in contemporary media. His new book ‘Tuskegee Airmen - Dogfighting with the Luftwaffe and Jim Crow’ is published by Pen and Sword.    We focus on the human and personal issues they faced. If unfamiliar with the events, this can be a sensitive issue that some might find uncomfortable. The presenter and guest views are their own and not those of the podcast or publisher (or others associated with this episode).    Recorded 11th April 2024     Contact Us: [email protected]     Samuel de Korte   Book https://www.pen-and-sword.co.uk/Tuskegee-Airmen-Hardback/p/24428   Web www.samueldekorte.com  Instagram https://www.instagram.com/samuel.dekorte/   Facebook https://www.facebook.com/samuel.dekorte   Threads https://www.threads.net/@samuel.dekorte     Please leave us a review on Spotify, Apple Podcasts or your podcast playing app. Here is a link to all the pod players https://pod.link/1611149544      Aviation Xtended Partners  Royal Aeronautical Society https://www.aerosociety.com/  Global Aviation Resource http://www.globalaviationresource.com/v2/  XTPMedia https://www.xtpmedia.co.uk/  Ellie Carter https://twitter.com/dragongirl94    Show Supporters  The Aviation Historian http://www.theaviationhistorian.com/  Aviation Enthusiasts Book Club https://www.facebook.com/groups/359410134220076    Xtended Podcast family  AeroSociety https://www.aerosociety.com/events/catch-up-on-events/video-audio-archive/   Airplane Geeks http://www.airplanegeeks.com/   PCDU https://www.planecrazydownunder.com/   Wings Over New Zealand Show http://cambridgeairforce.org.nz/WONZ_Show.html  You can shop through this Amazon link (No cost to you but a small benefit to us):  https://www.amazon.co.uk/?tag=xtenaeroradi-21&linkCode=ur1
