Important, but…kinda dry.
There are many tech-skeptical podcasts, but this one feels more urgent than most, as it is taking on issues of attention economy and political manipulation that have become the order of the day, hour, minute, second, tap. Tristan and Aza are…rather dull speakers, and often indistinguishable from one another. It’s odd, because while I found Tristan’s first major TED talk compelling, that same energy doesn’t come through in the podcast. The two of them monologue a bit too much, and break up interviews with more of their own insights, which while sometimes useful, can carry an air of self-importance. And yet I still give the podcast 5 stars, because these gentlemen are whip smart, and doing great work. The content is essential, even if the delivery is lacking.
